September saw the Poetry cafe return after a summer break. Our first Guest Poet of the season was Socman who delivered a beautiful, mellifluous series of poems ,all from the heart. 'I'm staying Humble' among the memorable refrains of Socman's work.
Socman's rhythmic delivery carried the messages of his poems wonderfully to our audiences' ears - 'I seek the seeker who seeks for me' and 'Imagination, a sacred art' all as thought provoking as inspiring. My own favourite 'It's not boring to be calm'.
Profound and moving, Socman's work was well received by our audience who were keen to ask questions and chat to Socman about his work.
Our open-micers did not disappoint either: Keith Wilson's recollection of sharing a 'plump autumnal kiss' whilst blackberrying and extolling the 'Pleasures of Bread [..] oozing with black bee honey', Brian Docherty reminded us that 'This moment is all there is' and Chris Goode recounted an 'Iris unfurling the rainbow like a sash'
There were so many wonderful contributions to a fabulous evening, but our special thanks go to Socman whose 'stroll [ing] among the dream' captivated so many of us on Tuesday.
You can see a spot of Socman's performance on our You Tube clips here:
