Noah Delivers an evening of poetry with a punch

A cold January evening was suitably warmed by this month's guest poet, Noah Rutter. With a set of poetry that ranged across comedic to profound, Noah treated our audience to lines that had as many ahhhs as it did oooohs!

Themes of poignancy were delivered in lines of contemplation: "I'll be toasted by a stranger too." and bold, belligerent determination oozed from a 'Paid for Paradise' stating that 'we will walk this land/ You can't compete with where our feet will take us.'

There were tender glimpses into the past with 'Memory of Nanny Gail' with her 'floral housecoat, fag in hand' and a close up and personal dilemma of teaching with 'Trying to Reason With 15 Year Old Boys' where Noel joins the ranks of secondary teachers across the world in the line, 'failed on every level'!

Noah's experience in performing poetry was plain to see as he injected his words with life and animation that truly made the set spellbinding.

In this month's gathering we had a a number of first time readers on the open mic: Andy, Jerome and Soodoe; an evening of beautifully melodic Scottish accents was a particular treat! Our regular contributors brought Alvin's commentary on 'Who's financing this Hell?' and Sylvie's touching portrait of 'Poor Dad' and Phillipa held the seasonal high note with 'Janus' and 'Match Girl Strike'.

Another wonderful evening courtesy of our generous guest poets and our wonderful community of poets.
