A Whirlwind of Wilson Wonders!

Keith Wilson graced our ears with moving words and moving music alongside a thread of humour that was totally infectious!

What a great night for our poetry lovers!

Keith opened his set with poems of love - Fred, a double bass, whose lonely hearts ad for 'someone who can thumb jolly' and who admitted, "I do want you beneath my chin.' and that Fred wanted 'someone to make beautiful music with.' Plucking our heart strings too!

Keith moved on to encourage us to leave those things that fill our days but not our hearts with 'Let's Go Blackberrying' telling of a 'plump autumnal kiss' Simply beautiful.

Keith's considerable musical talent was on show with 'Requiem' which hushed the crowd to silence and filled the bar with its moving atmosphere as Keith's rich vocal tones sang, 'Close your eyes, we're all here to hold your hand'.

The mood was lifted but the quality continued with Keith's aptitude for the right words in the right order and in this case - spoken in the right place with the memorably named Love handles and floppy bits are sexy!

The evening was filled with a raft of glories and triumphs from Keith's impressive repertoire.

Among our open mic-ers were Amanda Hills' 'A ventriloquist in the family' A true life tale of family discovery and its unexpectedly tragic past; Soo Doe whose experiences in a 'Van in Stornoway' hearing the church's peels on a Sunday morning led to the line, 'Cacophonous hypocrites ringing the bell'. We had two very welcome new readers on the open mic: Robin who spun a tale of fame and fortune with 'shopping bags of regret' and Jackson D whose lively and sharp poetry matched a beautiful rhythmic delivery.

Our evening drew to a close with words from Sylvie whose poems beat off the daemons we carry with us and Mr John who encouraged us to 'Dance on his Grave' as he explored initiation rituals and the reggae of |Jimmy Cliff.

So much more poetry and many more poets than there's room for here - so please join us next month to see for yourself, the magic and power of poetry. It's all free and all for you.
